Frequently Asked Questions.

What time is check-in? Can I check in early?

Check-in is 3:00p.m. or later. Guests are asked to call ahead if they plan to arrive later than 8:00 p.m. Early check-in is not available. Our 3:00p.m. check-in time allows staff the time necessary to prepare for the arrival of our guests.

 

What time is check-out? Can I schedule a late check-out?

Check-out is by 10:00a.m. When available, check-out may be extended for a fee of $15 per hour, for a maximum of four hours. Prior approval from management is required.

 

Is there a minimum number of nights required for a reservation?

Yes, for our vacation homes the minimum reservation length is five nights during the peak summer season and two nights for the rest of the year. The minimum number of nights required for cabin reservations is three nights during the peak summer season and two nights for the rest of the year. All reservations, both cabins and vacation homes, that include the July 4th holiday must include five nights or more. Reservations for all units during the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends must include three nights or more. After April 15th shorter reservations will be considered subject to availability and manager's discretion.

 

Do you require reservations to begin and end on a certain day?

No, guests can schedule arrival and departure days on any available dates.

 

Do you have Wi-Fi access?

Yes, there is Wi-Fi access throughout the resort. The best access is available near the office.

Do you have A/C in the rentals?

Yes, each cabin and vacation home has A/C.

 

Do the cabins and vacation homes have TVs?

Yes, we provide TVs in each vacation rental.

 

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, we are a pet-friendly resort! Guests may bring up to two dogs per cabin. Please visit our Terms and Conditions page and view our Pet Addendum for more details about vacationing with your pet at Sand Lake Resort.

Can I bring my RV or Camper? 

We have four full-service hook-up sites at our Resort. The sites are $50/day and must be reserved in advance. To reserve these sites please call our Resort Office.

 

Are towels and sheets provided?

Yes, all bed linens and a generous supply of towels are provided with each vacation rental. Beach towels are not provided. Guests should bring towels to use at the beach.

 

Do you offer maid service?

We do not offer daily cleaning service. We do supply fresh towels and linens upon request.

 

Do we need to bring dishes, cooking equipment, paper towels, cleaning supplies or toilet paper?

No, all our vacation rentals come with fully equipped kitchens, including dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, and cookware. They are also stocked with a supply of toilet paper, paper towels and cleaning supplies.

 

Is there a grocery store nearby?

Yes, there is a grocery store in Moose Lake, about three miles away.

Do the cabins and vacation homes have grills?

Yes, each vacation rental has a gas grill. We also have a limited number of charcoal grills available upon request.

Can I put up a tent?

Yes, tents can be put up by guests already renting a cabin or vacation home. There is a fee and approval is required. Please call for details.

Can I bring my ATV/OHV?

Yes, guests are encouraged to bring ATVs and OHVs to SLR. The resort is located just across the street from access to hundreds of miles of off-road trails. Quiet hours and speed limits must be observed when operating OHVs on resort property. We have overflow parking available for trailers.

 

Is there a boat launch?

There is a free DNR boat launch just around the corner, about a quarter mile from the resort by road - and about 500 feet across the bay by water.

 

Can I dock my boat at the resort?

Yes, SLR has four docks available for guests to use on a first come first served basis. No docking fee is required. Space is limited for personal boats.

How is the fishing in Sand Lake?

Sand Lake is great for fishing bass, northern pike, crappies and all varieties of pan fish. There are some walleyes and muskies too!

 

Does my cabin have a fire pit?

Each vacation rental has a private fire pit.

 

Is firewood provided? Can I bring my own firewood?

In accordance with Minnesota DNR regulations, only firewood purchased from a local DNR approved firewood vendor may be brought onto SLR property. Approved firewood is available for purchase at the resort.

 

Is there a swimming beach?

Yes, SLR has a beautiful sand beach with a stone terraced patio overlooking the lake.

 

Can friends and family visit while we are staying at the resort?

Yes, SLR guests are welcomed to have visitors during their stay at the resort. Visitors are required to register at the office upon arrival at the resort. There is a day visitor fee of $10 per person and an overnight visitor fee of $15 per person. SLR reserves the right to limit the number of visitors to any vacation home or cabin.
